Workshop Repairs

Our fully equipped, ESD compliant workshop caters to all sorts of repairs, upgrades and frequent technological miracles.  We service all makes & models and complete warranty repairs for many brands (including Apple, Acer and HP).  

The scope of general repairs we tackle is enormous, so it's always worth asking if we can fix whats broken! Some examples of what we can do in store are data transfer, data recovery, virus and malware removal, software fixes, part replacement and upgrades, network overhaul, preventative maintenance, backups, insurance quotes and more.

Here's some of the "good to know" stuff about bringing your equipment into us for repair.



Workshop rates really do vary depending on fault.  Our minimum fee is $60 covering troubleshooting, sourcing appropriate parts, quote preparation and first half hour of labour. If we can (or if we can't) fix your device in that time, then thats all you will pay.   Our hourly rate is $100 inc gst and we will consult you for approval to proceed if the repair cost will exceed $220.

Our summary of other common service charges is located at the service check in desk and we encourage you to discuss costings, budget and time frame with the staff member coordinating your repair if you have any concerns.  An average malware removal can take 8–16 hours costing on average $210 depending on severity of infection and complexity of cleanup.  Acutely infected systems can take 3-4 days to clean with cost capped at $300

Pricing for a Maintenance Contract which includes annual servicing, security assessment, backup integrity check and access to priority service with discounted service rates and access to VIP product specials starts from $30 per month.


Completion Time

Repairs are commenced in order of receipt into the workshop unless prior arrangements have been made.  Should your needs be particularly urgent, we can prioritize your repair for an additional fee.   Immediate or on the spot assessment or support of any hardware or software issue that is not pre-booked or covered under a Priority Service Plan will incur a service charge.



Payment for repairs is required on pick up.  Items not collected after 30 days may incur a storage fee.  Items left with us for repair are accepted under the terms of “Disposal of Uncollected Goods Act 1967” and if uncollected, may be liable to be sold after a period of 6 months. 



For items capable of storing user generated data (photos, music, electronic documents) please be aware that in the process of repair some or all of your data may become corrupted or lost.

It is your responsibility to ensure your important files are backed up on a regular basis, and while we make every effort to protect your information, no responsibility is taken by A-Z Computer Services for lost or irretrievable data.  We can advise you on suitable back up or data recovery options if required.

In some cases your system will need to be restored back to factory default settings, and as a result your data, programs and settings will be permanently removed, and the system returned with only the original manufacturer operating system installed.  Should you wish us to image your information prior to repair and reinstall it upon return, we can do so for $130 (or $60 for iPod/iPad/iPhone)

Factory resets of mobile devices are a necessary diagnostic to determine presence of hardware faults.  Ensure all data is backed up prior to submission for troubleshooting.  A minimum charge of $40 applies to a reset if unit not covered under warranty for a hardware failure.

The privacy and confidentiality of your data while in our care is assured



Warranty repairs cover parts and labour for hardware faults only.  Issues arising from malicious software installation, internet activities, incorrect software usage, physical damage, dust, nicotine build up, pet hair or power fluctuations are not covered by warranty and standard service charges will apply. 

Repair turnaround time for products under warranty is typically 2-3 business days.  This can vary according to part availability and manufacturer constraints and we will advise if any delays are expected to this usual time frame.

Please be aware that parts, modules and replacement products from some manufacturers may be new or reconditioned to like new performance, and typically carry the balance of original warranty period. All replaced parts, modules and products become the property of the original manufacturer.  If you have any concerns about repairs or replacement processes please enquire.



In some situations the coverage of your repair may be the responsibility of your home or business insurer, financier or electricity supplier.  For instances such as accidental damage, theft, storm damage, power surges etc we suggest you make contact with the appropriate party to determine if a) it will be covered and b) what information we are required to report in support of your claim  and c) the extent of the coverage offered.  Our fee to diagnose fault and supply a quote for your vendor is $60 and no subsequent repairs will commence until authorized.


Vendor Communications

Customers presenting Apple branded equipment for repair may receive a customer satisfaction survey from Apple via email following their repair.  We encourage honest feedback when responding to these surveys as these results are what help us constantly improve our service to our customers.
